We are excited to welcome so many friends and family to Chapel Hill to celebrate with us! It is a beautiful town that centered around the historic UNC campus.

Getting to Chapel Hill

Driving: Chapel Hill is on Interstate 40 between Greensboro and Raleigh in central North Carolina. It is about eight hours east of Nashville if you take I-40 through Knoxville, TN and Asheville, NC. Interstate 85 passes just north of town; Chapel Hill is about five hours south of Washington DC and about five hours north of metro Atlanta.

Flying: the closest airport is Raleigh Durham International Airport (RDU). It is just under a half-hour from the airport to downtown Chapel Hill. The black RDU airport taxis have a flat rate to Chapel Hill, or you can rent a car.

Location and Maps

The wedding and reception are both in Chapel Hill. The wedding is at the Chapel of the Cross, 304 East Franklin Street. The reception is at the Carolina Inn, 211 Pittsboro Street.

We have a small Chapel Hill area map and a downtown detail map available; you can also download a printable PDF of both maps.

Accomodations

We have arranged for blocks of rooms at three different hotels in Chapel Hill. The block rates are available for the evenings of Friday, May 15 and Saturday, May 16.

Carolina Inn

The Carolina Inn is the historic inn that borders the campus of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It is the site of our reception and is the easiest hotel if you choose not to rent a car as the church is within easy walking distance. Rooms with one queen bed are $169 and rooms with two queen beds are $189. Call the hotel at 1-800-962-8519 and tell them you are with the Zucchero/Scocca wedding. Reservations must be made by April 24, 2009.

Residence Inn Chapel Hill

The Residence Inn Chapel Hill is one of the newest hotels in town and is about 10 minutes from the church and reception. It offers rooms that sleep up to four or up to six with full kitchens and lots of square footage. We picked this hotel as an option because it might be a great choice for those traveling in a group or those with kids. The link above lets you book at the group rate directly online (you can also call the hotel and tell them which group you are with). Reservations must be made by April 17, 2009.

Hampton Inn Chapel Hill

The Hampton Inn in Chapel Hill is a recently remodeled hotel with all the typical amenities of a Hampton, including the great breakfast. It is about 10 minutes from the church and reception. Double/double or King studio rooms are available for $89 per night. For reservations, you can call the hotel’s direct line at 919-968-3000 or the Hampton central reservation line at 800-426-7866. Tell them you are with the Zucchero/Scocca wedding (our group code is SZW). Reservations must be made by April 15, 2009.

Your Free Time

If you have time to explore on Friday or Saturday evening, there are lots of great places to eat (it is a college town, after all). The quad on central campus or the University arboretum (which is right behind our church) make for some beautiful walking that is easily accessible to downtown. Durham and Raleigh are within a 30 minute drive. If you want to add some vacation on to your trip, the North Carolina beaches are between two and a half and five hours away depending on the beach. If mountains are more your style, Asheville is an easy 3.5 hour drive and is home to the famous Biltmore Estate among other attractions.
